KOREAN KIM CHI

What is Kimchi?

Kimchi is a traditional Korean dish made from fermented vegetables, most commonly napa cabbage and Korean radish, seasoned with garlic, ginger, chili, and other spices. It has been a staple of Korean cuisine for centuries and is served as a side dish with almost every meal.
The fermentation process gives kimchi its distinctive tangy flavor and allows it to develop depth over time. Each region and household in Korea has its own variation, making kimchi not just a food, but an important part of cultural heritage. Today, kimchi is enjoyed not only in Korea but is also widely served in Japanese, Vietnamese, and many modern fusion restaurant concepts around the world.

Kimchi’s benefits

Galbi House prepares its kimchi following traditional methods, carefully enhancing the fermentation process to preserve its full nutritional benefits.
Kimchi is appreciated not only for its bold, distinctive flavor but also for its nutritional value. It is rich in probiotics, high in vitamins and antioxidants, and supports immune function, among many other health benefits (Park et al., Journal of Medicinal Food, 2014)

OUR TEAM

We are a young and passionate team, dedicated to what we do – and to Korean cuisine.
While our recipes are not passed down through generations, they reflect our journey of learning, practicing, and refining our craft. Each dish represents our commitment and love for the food we create – not only for our guests, but also for ourselves.

OUR MENU

In an era of fast and pre-made food, Galbi House remains committed to the tradition of preparing dishes in-house. From our kimchi to our sauces, we use fresh, authentic ingredients whenever possible, thoughtfully adapted to locally sourced products in Germany.
Our guests can enjoy well-known Korean favorites such as bibimbap and tteokbokki, alongside our own creations like Galbi chicken wings with house-made hot sauce.
